Descent of the Giant

Hitler with Eva Braun, his wife.
Defeated at El-Alamein and Stalingrad, the tide of the war turned against Germany. As the conflict continued, Hitler grew weak and unwell. He was isolated and dependent on his medications. After January 1945, he stayed in a bunker beneath the Chancellery in Berlin. Hitler was suggested to leave Berlin and made plans for a last-ditch resistance before finally abandoning that plan. Most of his staffs departed and only a few close personnel and Eva Braun stayed with him.Hitler's choice to remain in the Führerbunker to the very end amounted to his final decision of the war.By April 27, Russian bombardment of the Reich Chancellery buildings had reached its peak with numerous direct hits.Units of the Red Army had smashed through the German defenses in Berlin and were only a few miles away from the bunker. This made it that Hitler only had perhaps a day or two left before the Russians arrived at his doorstep.Hitler then reconciled himself to defeat, and began preparing for his own death. At midnight on the night of April 28-29, Hitler married Eva Braun in the Berlin bunker. Less than 2 days later, the married couple executed themselves. Hitler shot himself and Braun took poison. In his will, he revealed his fate: "I myself and my wife – in order to escape the disgrace of deposition or capitulation – choose death. It is our wish to be burnt immediately on the spot where I have carried out the greatest part of my daily work in the course of twelve years' of service to my people."
ANALYSIS
Now, we will be analyzing the events and decisions of Hitler that led to his fall by deconstructing the self into various parts.
PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT
Hitler grew up physically normal just like everyone else. Dr. Murray points out that though there is very little information available about Hitler's childhood, he is said to have been sickly and frail. According to psychoanalyst Michael Stone, Hitler's father reportedly beat both Adolf and his older brother with a whip regularly, meting out daily whippings to the more rebellious Adolf, who, by the time he turned 11, "refused to give his father the satisfaction of crying, even after 32 lashes." It is known that Hitler suffered not only from chronic anxiety but also from insomnia and related somatic symptoms similar to what we today might call irritable bowel syndrome.COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT
It is difficult to provide an objective explanation of the relationship between Hitler's health and while his parkinsonism is a result of his actions during WWII, It is unquestionably risky to superimpose Hitler's symptoms on a variety of complex events, political interests, and other factors. However, going too far risks creating a revisionist history. Hitler had bradykinesia, rigidity, stooped posture, and a mild shuffling gait in addition to tremors. He also discovered micrographia. Hitler experienced depressive symptoms in the final months of his life, making it difficult to say whether he committed suicide. He was suffering from parkinsonian depression. Hitler was 29 years old at the time of the gas attack, and he was 53 years old when he first showed symptoms of disease in 1941.
At the age of 45, Adolf Hitler developed Parkinson's disease. He may have experienced transient symptoms in 1923 when he was 34 years old. During the 1920s, young-onset parkinsonism was more likely to be diagnosed as post-encephalitic than idiopathic.Parkinson's disease (PD) is a common neurodegenerative disorder marked by the presence of Lewy bodies and a decrease in the number of dopaminergic neurons in the basal ganglia's substantia nigra. Common PD symptoms include a loss of control over voluntary movements, rigidity, and tremors.
PD has been found in several notable people, including Adolf Hitler, the Chancellor of Germany and Führer of Nazi Germany during World War II, who is thought to have suffered from idiopathic PD throughout his life.SOCIO-EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Hitler's typical personality traits were impulsiveness, egocentricity, coldness, aggression, lack of empathy, and toughness. He also exhibited a variety of personality disorders, including paranoid, antisocial, narcissistic, and sadistic personality disorders. Hitler's personality disorders were all assumed based on his character traits as an adult.Psychologists also speculated that Hitler's Posttraumatic Stress Disorder could have occurred. Schizophrenia Paranoid Type and Psychotic Thinking. In conclusion, Hitler may have had a large majority of supporters potentially harmful psychological disorders influence his heinous as well as atrocious actions.Alan Bullock characterized Hitler as an opportunist whose ideology and sermonizing was nothing more than a propagandist’s cunning theatrics designed to accumulate power for himself and the Nazi Party.
SEXUAL SELF
The four-episode documentary, Hitler’s Secret Sex Life, which began airing on the Sky History channel on Sunday, details Hitler as having insatiable desires filled with wants for voyeurism, sadomasochism, an addiction to porn and even at points an incestuous relationship with his niece.
“Sado-masochistic practices fit perfectly in with Hitler’s personality,” Australian historian and forensic psychiatrist Prof. Robert Kaplan said to The Sun. “On the one hand, he put himself forward as this master, this dominating character who walked around with a whip and loved all the uniforms, which is the sadist side. But the other side of sado-masochism is to be humiliated."The documentary also examines other mysterious relationships Hitler had, such as with his girlfriend and later wife, Eva Braun, with whom he committed suicide in 1945, and his relationship with German actress Renate Müller, who is reported to have fallen out of a window to her death during one of her and Hitler's kinky sessions together.
According to the report, Braun's gynecologist said that her vagina was too narrow to have sex comfortably, and she had told those close to her that she and Hitler never had sex.
“He uses me only for certain purposes. Nothing else is possible," said Braun in a personal diary entry. ASIDE FROM his out-of-the-ordinary relationships, Hitler had developed a porn-addiction beginning in 1933. He would have the official Nazi photographer supply him with pornographic films and play the movies on his personal home theater.
“Voyeurism fits in with his sexuality and his personality,” Kaplan told The Sun. “He could distance himself so he could enjoy it but not reveal anything of himself.”
Psychologists believe that Hitler's sexual deviancy comes from the relationship he had with his mother and father, who were also believed to have been cousins.
His father was reportedly abusive, and his mother coddled him throughout his childhood and teenage years, resulting in an unhealthy idea of what a relationship should consist of.Unsurprisingly, his relationships with women were pathological. Of the five he was involved with, three attempted suicide, two successfully; the most well known is Eva Braun, who was kept away from almost everybody except for his immediate circle. Before Braun, he was besotted with Geli Raubal, his half-niece, who realising that she could never escape him, committed suicide, the same fate that awaited her successor. Rumours flourished that Raubal was forced participate in sado-masochistic and coprophilic practices but it can be said with some certainty that this said more about the allegators’ motives than Hitler.
Hitler’s genitals however are another story. The persistent rumour that he lacked a testicle reached such a peak that it became a popular rhyme among Allied troops:Hitler has only got one ball,
Göring has two but very small,
Himmler has something sim’lar,
But poor old Goebbels has no balls at all.Like other doctors, his personal physician Morell was never allowed to examine the pelvic and abdominal area. With the Austrian Anschluss an SS team headed was sent in to destroy incriminating files. These included the Austrian Army medical examination in 1913 that found him unfit for service. This was intriguing as he did not have any health problems at the time and went on to serve in a Bavarian regiment the following year without difficulty. The possibility of congenital abnormalities must be regarded as high, but we shall never know.
Until today, that is. As something of a Christmas present to Hitler researchers, a German researcher has found convincing evidence to confirm the one-ball theory. Following the failure of the Munich Beer Hall Putsch, on 12 November 1923, Hitler had to undergo a medical examination on arrival at Landsberg prison for a five-year sentence (but was released after 9 months). The records of that examination, long thought lost, have been exhumed by Professor Peter Fleischmann. They show that Hitler had an undescended right testicle. The prison medical officer, Dr Josef Steiner Brin, noted that “Adolf Hitler, artist, recently writer” was “healthy and strong” but had “right-side cryptorchidism”.
He must have been in a state of denial but sufficiently aware that he had to hide all knowledge of it and therefore keep women at a considerable distance. There is nothing to suggest that a second testicle would have changed his behaviour, sufficient to make him the most evil man who ever lived.
SPIRITUAL SELF
Hitler belived that he was a spiritual teacher but in his book on gurus who attract fanatical followers, Anthony Storr omitted Hitler from his group of examples because he thought Hitler was not a spiritual teacher. Others have, somewhat paradoxically, excluded Hitler as an example by demonizing Hitler—as when Pope Pius XII referred to Hitler and National Socialism as a “satanic apparition”—thus removing Hitler and Nazism from the domain of human phenomena. A lot of people chalk Hitler’s religious talks and faith to being a symptom of underlying mental health issue. In Redlich’s own attempt at providing a diagnosis, he concluded by acknowledging a spiritual dimension—by diagnosing Hitler as a destructive and paranoid prophet.Hitler strictly adhered to his Catholic upbringing regarding sex, believing men and women should remain celibate until marriage. He believed he had a noble cause which is to save the world. He had a strong faith in the laws of nature as he understood it. in Hitler’s image of Nature, there is nothing to suggest that humans are responsible for Nature. In fact, in his image, humans dominate Nature by being smarter than other creatures. Hitler's image of Nature and the human-Nature relationship provides, then, no support for being responsible in general—except if one adopts his specious argument that following the law of ‘claw and fang’ is being responsible.
He was more of a spiritual person than a religious one, though his spirituality was pathological and destructive. John Lukacs completed his own work on Hitler by saying, “(Hitler) had great talents given to him by God which he used for evil purposes, whence his responsibility: it is also…that his evil characteristics were spiritual.”Hitler's racial ideology stemmed from what he called "the basic principle of the blood." This meant that the blood of every person and every race contained the soul of a person and likewise the soul of his race, the Volk. Hitler believed that the Aryan race, to which all "true" Germans belonged, was the race whose blood (soul) was of the highest degree. God Himself had, in fact, created the Aryans as the most perfect men, both physically and spiritually. Neither MacCurdy nor Abrams could have known the appalling repercussions Hitler’s mental state was to have, but they clearly saw it in development. “Hitler is caught up in a web of religious delusions,” MacCurdy concluded. “The Jews are the incarnation of Evil, while he is the incarnation of the Spirit of Good. He is a god by whose sacrifice victory over Evil may be achieved. He does not say this in so many words, but such a system of ideas would rationalize what he does say that is otherwise obscure."
DIGITAL SELF
In 1933, when Hitler took power, the Nazis controlled less than three percent of Germany’s 4,700 papers. Joseph Goebbels, the head of the Ministry of Popular Enlightenment and Propaganda, was in charge of the control of newspapers. The newspapers had to spread the same message as everything else – Gleischaltung – the coordination of the whole of Nazi German society so that it acted and thought the same. Therefore, people only read the news that was presented to them by the government. On October 4th 1933 the Reich Press Law stated that all journalism had to be “racially clean”. With this law, Germans were the only ones to be journalists, editors, and newspaper business owners. In the years preceding World War II, news outlets ran profiles of the Nazi leader that portrayed him as a country gentleman. His image was fluffed by the media. They focused on showing his private life, like showing him playing with his dogs and with children, and at home in architectural spaces designed to evoke a feeling of warmth. He became likeable to the audience’s eyes.Considering that Hitler is a historical figure who lived during the years when the internet and technology weren’t that advanced, Hitler didn’t have a lot of his own social media footprint. But when talking about how Hitler is viewed online in today’s age, there is a shocking mix of opinions. In various social media platforms, Hitler would be associated with the words "evil." Considering the mass murders, concentration camps, and war that he caused, one might say it is only fitting. Yet, in various platforms there are "neo-nazis" present. A neo-nazi is a person who belongs to a group that believes in the ideas of Hitler's Nazi. They borrow elements from Nazi doctrine, including antisemitism, ultranationalism, racism, xenophobia, ableism, homophobia, anti-Romanyism, anti-communism, and creating a "Fourth Reich". The Fourth Reich is a hypothetical Nazi Reich that is the successor to Adolf Hitler's Third Reich. Holocaust denial, which asserts that the Nazi genocide of Jews or the Holocaust, is a myth or fabrication, is common in neo-Nazi circles. It has been said that neo-Nazis use social media to recruit people, especially young ones.In the internet, there is also this statement called "Godwin's Law." The law states that if any online discussion continues long enough, someone will almost certainly compare someone else to Hitler. In the time such comparison is made, the discussion is finished. Whoever mentioned Hitler and Nazis have "lost" the argument. The law does not apply to discussions of genocide, propaganda, or other mainstays of the Nazi regime.
